Job Description

The Crew Specialist / Pipe Layer is responsible for installing underground utilities, including water, sewer, and storm drainage systems. This role also involves operating light equipment such as backhoes, skid steers, and mini excavators to support installation and site preparation. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, bi-lingual, has a valid drivers license, and capable of working in a physically demanding outdoor environment. The following work experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install pipe according to grade and project specifications.
  • Safely operate light equipment such as backhoes, skid steers, and loaders.
  • Excavate and prepare trenches for utility installation.
  • Set and use lasers, grade rods, and layout tools to maintain proper grade.
  • Backfill and compact trenches following installation.
  • Inspect pipe alignment, grade, and joint tightness.
  • Load/unload materials and assist in site cleanup.
  • Follow trench safety and confined space protocols per OSHA standards.
  • Attend safety meetings and maintain current OSHA certification.
  • Support other crew members and foreman as needed to achieve project goals.
